From 11/4 to 11/8, Junghwan Lee and Bohyun Kim went to Haiti to hire music school teachers and teach students in Canaan.
During our visit, all elementary, middle, and high schools were closed because of anti-government protests. All students were able to come to music school, and we used that time to focus on learning music. We showed music performance videos and watched the movie “Sound of Music”. Students came to music school every day to watch movie and performance videos as they can’t watch videos often because of lack of electricity.
We also hired music school teachers in Canaan. We interviewed them, and they will start teaching students’ wind instruments. We had a concert during the visit, and students’ performance level has been improved greatly.
Anti-government protests have impacted the music school community, but please keep supporting our students and teachers as they are finding joy through music.
